Antique Victorian Tozer portable fire engine. Manufactured by William Rose engineering company in Manchester, England in the late 19th century. This vintage innovative portable fire prevention apparatus allowed a hose to be attached to the hand pump which directed the water specifically towards the fire base making it the most powerful engine of its size at the time. This was most likely used in railway stations,warehouses, stores and office buildings before piped water was a regular feature. This item dates to the 1870's/80's.

The hand pump is constructed from brass which is held in place via the central concentric brass ring on the top which is also a carrying ring for portability. The main body is made from cast iron which could be secured to one location or on rollers via the metal bracket feet. This would be more suited to a museum due to its subject matter but it would also make a wonderful sword or cane stand.

This would make a great birthday gift or housewarming gift as an umbrella or walking cane stand, great addition to any firefighting collection or museum.

Water pump measures 17.25" largest diameter by 22.25" tall and weighs 31lb 10oz.

CONDITION

In good condition considering age and use, there are several small holes in the metal at the bottom sides of the bucket casing (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
